We were delighted to support and present at the BARN (Board of Airlines Representatives in Nepal) event, held alongside the Association’s AGM, at Best Western Plus Godavari on 5 June 2026. The focused one-hour session (5:00–6:00 PM), followed by cocktails and dinner, brought together airline leaders, GSAs, and industry partners to discuss technology, distribution, and the next steps for modern airline retailing in Nepal.
The conversation centered on New Distribution Capability (NDC) — a powerful shift in how airlines create and sell offers. NDC enables richer content, personalized bundles, and real-time control of merchandising, turning distribution from a technical task into a commercial lever for customer engagement and ancillary revenue growth. For carriers in Nepal and the region, NDC presents a clear opportunity to differentiate products, personalize offers, and respond faster to market demand.
Verteil’s presentation explained our pragmatic approach to making NDC work in production. We highlighted how a proven technology platform, combined with hands-on implementation experience, helps airlines move from pilots to scaled retailing. Key elements we covered included integration patterns that minimize operational disruption, short-cycle experimentation to discover high-performing offers, and commercial metrics to track—ancillary uptake, conversion rates, and offer velocity.
The session evolved into an energetic, practical discussion. Delegates from carriers including IndiGo, Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways, flydubai, Air Arabia, SriLankan Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Emirates, FitsAir, Thai Airways, Air India, Turkish Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Korean Air, Ethiopian Airlines, Malindo Air, Malaysia Airlines, Himalaya Airlines, Thai AirAsia, and Bhutan Airlines raised questions about accelerating NDC adoption, coordinating with GSAs, and safeguarding revenue during migration. We shared concrete use-cases from global rollouts where coordinated partner engagement and phased adoption produced measurable uplift in ancillary sales and improved merchandising precision.
We emphasized a partnership-driven approach: align with GSAs and distribution partners early, prioritize a phased rollout that combines direct and indirect channels, and use clear KPIs to guide decisions. Strong change management and technical readiness are equally important to ensure that distribution enhancements translate into commercial results.
We’re grateful to Mr. Anil Ghimire, President of BARN and representative of Nepal Airlines Corporation, for the invitation, and to our GSA partner Stream Travel Services for facilitating Verteil’s participation. The enthusiasm and constructive dialogue at the event reinforced our belief that Nepal’s carriers are well placed to embrace smarter distribution.
Verteil looks forward to continuing the conversation and partnering with these airlines and local partners to implement NDC-driven retail strategies that deliver measurable commercial benefits.
